Massachusetts / MFS Tactical Trauma Care I
« on: October 19, 2018, 10:18:30 am »
It seems that more and more shooters are taking medical courses, which I believe is a very positive thing.  Here is another medical Trauma course I found.

MFS Tactical Trauma Care I

Cost is $100. A must for anyone who carries a firearm for personal protection. This class will teach you what you need to know to treat traumatic injuries caused by firearms or edged weapons.
Blood loss is the #1 reason people die from penetrating trauma. This class, patterned after Law Enforcement training, will familiarize you with the following:

Lifesaving products like Quick Clot, compression bandages, and tourniquets.
Learn how to control bleeding by CAT, SWAT, and Sof Tourniquet applications.
Learn how to treat a sucking chest wound.
Learn basic 1st aid including eye injuries
Learn how to maintain an airway
Learn basic carries for injured people.

Training will consist of a four-hour class including lecture and hands on training. Students will receive a certificate upon completion of the class.

Class Instructor:

Officer Robert MacQuarrie (Mac)
Instructor of: Firearms, Use of Force, Active Shooter, Pepper Spray, Tactics
Instructor of Law Enforcement Causality Care
Former U.S. Marine
Former SWAT Officer

I believe they have an evening class November 30th, but check with them to confirm.  You don't have to be a member to attend this class.
FYI: I have no affillation with MFS, although many years ago I was a member. I've taken other courses through them, including training by Officer Robert MacQuarrie (Mac). A very qualified and dynamic instructor. Highly recommend.

Massachusetts / Basic Trauma Intervention

If you are a member of Massachusetts GOAL (Gun Owners Action League), which all gun owners should, they are having two Basic Trauma Intervention classes. One was in Oct. and the second is in November. Sad to say, both are sold out. I will be attending the November class and will post back my impressions.

I'm under the belief that seeing that these two classes sold out so quickly, there will be more after the first of the year. Please join and monitor GOAL at http://goal.org/index.html for further classes.

FYI I have no affiliation with GOAL other than I'm a member.

Course details:
11/6/18 sold out
10/4/18 sold out
Basic Trauma Intervention
Tue Nov 6th 6:00pm - 10:00pm
GOAL, 361 W Main St, Northborough, MA 01532, USA
 $75.00
BTI (basic trauma interventions) is designed for the none medically trained individual to gain the skills to potentially save a life using Tourniquets and Hemostatic agents. In this day an age with acts of violence, industrial accidents and the abundance of motor vehicles, it is plausible that you will be involved or be a witness to a trauma with severe hemorrhaging. Thom Kane has taken skills from being a Nurse, EMT and his training as a Officer Down Rescue Instructor, Tactical Emergency Casualty Care Instructor and combined them into a civilian based course.
